DiSC
DISC is a quadrant behavioral model based on the work of Dr. William Moulton Marston (1893–1947) to examine the behavior of individuals in their environment or within a specific situation. The DiSC model says that characteristics of behavior can be divided into 4 "behavior styles." Everyone possesses all four styles to various degrees. A person's primary and secondary behavior type make up their "blend." Since DiSC is based on behavior, it acknowledges that people may have a different profile in different situations.
In 1984 a correlation study was done between the Personal Profile System and the Personality Factors Questionaire. There were enough significantly high correlations to say that the PPS has construct validity when compared to the Questionaire.
My DiSC:
I have studied DiSC for over four years and believe it is one of the easier models to understand. I think it provides people a great deal of information to help with their own self awareness, as well as tools to improve interpersonal communications skills. My own personal DiSC profile and is shown below.

Appraisers tend to be strong communicators, as C’s measure their words carefully and I’s are naturally skilled at influencing others.
Appraisers are perceived as assertive rather than aggressive. They elicit cooperation of others by showing consideration. They use persuasion to involve others in projects. They are creative, direct, and accomplish results. Appraisers are practical, and ensure progressive results by developing a detailed plan of action. They have a desire to win and can become impatient when their high standards are not met. |
